Libraries Change Lives

The New Rochelle Public Library Foundation is a volunteer fundraising and advocacy organization dedicated to the continued excellence of the New Rochelle Public Library. Since 1993, the Foundation has raised more than $3 million to build an Endowment Fund and finance the gap between the Library budget and the growing needs of our community.

Children's Room (21)With the Foundation’s support, the Library has purchased more than 100 desperately needed computers and funded the renovation of the Children’s Room, Library Lobby and Ossie Davis Theater. Foundation support has also established the Handelman Business Opportunity Center, Computer Training Lab, ESL Classroom, Periodical Room, the Bliss Music Center, the E.L. Doctorow Local History Room and a Teen Center. In addition, over the past 5 years, matching funds from the Foundation have leveraged more than $500,000 in state and federal grants.

These projects, along with other Foundation supported initiatives, have made an enormous difference in the way that the Library is able to serve the community. Together, we have built one of the best and most highly-utilized libraries in Westchester County.
